Merthyr Tydfil Golf Club is a mountain top course within the Brecon Beacons National Park, with outstanding views over the surrounding area. It has an open moorland terrain, plays longer than it's stated length of 5600 yards and presents a challenge to golfers of all handicaps.
Over the years the course has had a number of name changes, and today the official name is Merthyr Tydfil Golf Club, but it is also widely known as Cilsanws because of it's location on Cilsanws Mountain.
The course is easily accessed, being within a quarter of a mile of the A470/A465 Junction at Cefn Coed-y-Cymmer, two miles North of Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre. After leaving the A465 in Cefn Coed-y-Cymmer, follow the signs for Pontsticill and take the first turning left, and follow the road to the top of the hill.
