National 'Elf' Walk - Parc Taf Bargoed

About

This Christmas, to celebrate the NHS and our fabulous Country Parks we are holding a series of National ‘Elf’ Walks in some of our parks on 28th December. Come and join us and discover some of the secrets of our landscape, enjoy some fresh air and a warming drink – just book a FREE place for a walk around your favourite park for you and your family. Walk routes are all family friendly but do wear sensible footwear and warm clothes – maybe even an ‘Elf’ hat or Christmas jumper!

Parc Taf Bargoed - This will be an approximate 3 – 4 miles gentle walk starting at the Pavilion. The walk will touch on the history of the park as it turns 20 next year and how the landscape has been transformed. The route will take in the tranquil setting of a mile long lake, the wildlife that are resident in and around the lake. From the lake, the walk will meander through the cascades to a semi-natural woodland setting. Then we will make our way to over the suspension bridge into the Miner’s Entrance, where a sculpture commemorates the work and lives of the miners who worked in the mines that are part of the heritage of the park and its surrounding communities. The walk then loops back to the Pavilion.
