Major Events in the South Wales Valleys
Make a day of it!
Throughout the year The Valleys host some of the most popular events in Wales, bringing visitors and communities together. World Heritage Day in Blaenavon, celebrates its World Heritage Site status, mixing entertainment with activities and a food fair with history.
For music lovers there’s always the Abertillery Blues Festival. This event grows in popularity every year and now attracts both national and international artists playing live in venues throughout the town.
And for the more energetic there’s Nos Galan Road Races the popular 5km road run for all standard of runners. A race for amateurs, although you never know who you’ll bump into on the starting line, famous faces such as Lynford Christie have been known to take part!
Entertainment, food and crafts – what more could a family wish for?
The Big Welsh Bite at Ynysangharad Park is a major agricultural and lifestyle show held in Pontypridd each year and is great family entertainment.
If sport and activities is more your thing, give Parc Bryn Bach a try. Every year the Park is host to the Welsh Championship Triathlon and welcomes spectators to encourage and to be inspired by the participants.
And don’t forget, many of the attractions in The Valleys hold regular events throughout the year, from balloon festivals and craft workshops to ghost trails and nature watching.
