Times have changed, and many serve great food – at great-value prices – ranging from bar snacks to three-course meals. The cooking can be wholesome, honest and simple or highly inventive (yes, we have our gastropubs too, where you’ll dine extremely well on dishes that rival those in any good restaurant).
