About Homecoming

There has always been a welcome in the hillsides and The Valleys, but now there are even more reasons to come home. There’s so much to be proud of - the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Blaenavon, the National Eisteddfod coming to Blaenau Gwent in 2010 and the brand spanking new Fos Lass Racecourse to name but three. And there’s also a chance to trace your Valleys roots at the brand new, state-of-the-art Genealogy Centre that opens in summer 2010.

It’s the perfect time for all of us to say ‘Hiya Butt’ to someone who’s been away for a while - or even a new generation of Valleys descendants who want to trace their roots back here to the green, green grass of home. For some handy hints and tips on how to do just that, click here.

On this website you’ll find everything you need to get the ball rolling, including e-card invitations. And don’t forget to get your Valleys ex-pat friends and relations to take The VQ Test - after all, you can take the person out of The Valleys, but we reckon you can never take The Valleys out of the person!

So whether your loved ones now live in Bognor or Bogata, 2010 is the perfect time for them to rediscover the land of their fathers - and of course their mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters too.
