ARE YOU ONE OF THE BOYS?

Britain’s favourite choir, Only Men Aloud, is looking for the next generation of male singers in The Valleys to create Only Boys Aloud.

If you’re aged between 14 and 19 and would like to become ‘one of the boys’, singing a mix of modern and traditional music then we want to hear from you.

The campaign is part of The Valleys Heart and Soul campaign and members of Only Boys Aloud will take part in a diverse programme of concerts and events throughout 2010 and beyond. The first of these performances will be alongside Only Men Aloud at the televised opening concert of the National Eisteddfod of Wales on 30 July in Ebbw Vale.

Rehearsals for Only Boys Aloud will be held in venues local to you such as rugby clubs across 20 communities in The Valleys.

Principality Building Society, Wales’ largest building society, has helped fund the campaign with additional support from Arts and Business Cymru. The campaign is also being supported by BBC Cymru Wales, the Welsh Rugby Union, the National Eisteddfod, Arriva Trains Wales and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

BBC Cymru Wales has commissioned a four part television documentary on Only Boys Aloud and will be following the journey of the choirs from the recruitment stage through to the first performance. BBC Radio Wales will also be covering the journey as the choir progresses throughout the summer.
