Horse Riding / Pony Trekking in The South Wales Valleys
Hills and horses go together, especially when there are so many inviting bridleways and cross-country routes to follow.
The Valleys really suit riding and trekking. Our mountains are high but not too high, which means that you can ride from the bottom all the way to the top on horseback. We’re thinking of tracks like the Furlong Wood Ride, for example, which consists of three linking loops of around 12 miles taking in woodland and Blaenavon’s World Heritage moors and mountains. And if you want to keep roadwork to an absolute minimum we have oceans of traffic-free green space in our many forests and country parks for a good gallop.
It’s all so easy to arrange thanks to our wide range of trekking, riding and equestrian centres. They’ll look after you whether you’re eight or 68, an experienced rider or a complete beginner. Most will offer short rides and longer excursions, together with expert guiding and tuition.
