Set in the shadows of one of Europe's largest Castles the town of Caerphilly comes to life as people of all ages come to The Big Cheese®, an extravaganza of street entertainers, living history encampments, music, dance, traditional funfair, folk dancing, falconry, fire eating, minstrels, troubadours and much more.

Visitors will also be treated to a fantastic cheese market showcasing the finest cheese traders in the country, as well as our popular food & drink market, housing the very best in Welsh produce including delicious treats, preserves and tempting tipples.

The Big Cheese® attracts over 80,000 visitors from all over Europe each year. The FREE event takes place every year in Caerphilly, South Wales, the birth place of Tommy Cooper and the famous crumbly Caerphilly Cheese.

The Big Cheese® Event Programme

Friday 27th July (3pm - 10pm)
Funfair (3pm - 10pm),
Music Entertainment Programme (6pm - 10pm),
The Great Cheese Race (6.30pm start),
Firework Display (10.00pm)

Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th July (11am – 9pm)
The Big Cheese Entertainment programme includes: Re-enactment displays, musical entertainment, educational activities, over 60 food producers, cheese market, craft stalls, animal marquees, traditional funfair plus lots more.

Exit junction 32 of M4, take the A470 then A469 and follow the signs for Caerphilly In order to avoid congestion at this year's Big Cheese event, please use the park and ride scheme in operation. For both car parks follow the temporary signs from the A470, A469 and A468.
